Why Keep In Touch?

Good communication between home and school is essential to the development of a positive school environment. The home is central to the development of the child. Both Scoil Íde and the family strive to be mutually supportive of each other so that the child works and succeeds to the best of his or her ability.

Parents are the primary educators of their children and parental interest is the single greatest indicator for a child’s success at Primary School. The most important part of all Home-School Links is the relationship between parents and teachers and the faith that parents have in us as teachers. This needs to be developed and maintained because it is this faith that allows us to do our job.

Parents are encouraged to

1.    Develop close links with the school and collaborate with the school in developing the full potential of their children.
2.    Share the responsibility of keeping in touch & using the communication tools available.
3.    Become actively involved in the Parents Association and support your child at school activities & assemblies
4.    Participate in policy and decision-making processes.

The School has put the following measures in place to ensure that Parents and Guardians can keep up to date with the daily life of the school…

All incoming parents meet the Principal to discuss their child before starting in Scoil Ide.

All parents are directed to a copy of the school’s Code of Behaviour and are asked to ensure to the best of their ability that it will be upheld.

If a Teacher becomes concerned about the social or educational progress of a child they will make contact with the parents to discuss the matter.

Formal Parent/Teacher Meetings take place each year.

Written Reports are available to parents of all children in the summer through the on-line Parent Portal.

Our School newsletter is released at the end of each month.

The senior classes in 4th, 5th & 6th host Assemblies in the Halla at various stages throughout the year. See the Assembly Timetable for further details.

We post relatively frequently on X ( Twitter) to give an overall sense of how we work together in Scoil Íde.

Classes host events in the Halla from time to time and parents and guardians are welcome to attend these.

Contact details for each teacher in the school are available. We ask that you make an appointment if you wish to meet in person or speak on the phone. We also ask that your appointments fall outside of 09:00-14:45 if at all possible as this is core teaching and learning time for the children.

Agreed Reports from every Board of Management Meeting is available to view on the scoilide.ie

The Parents’ Association work with the school leadership team and the Board of Management to promote and include the voice of our parents and guardians in the development of the school.
